First time to the pool in 2 years. Kaden had a blast, I on the other hand was a nervous wreck. It was very obvious that he has no arm or leg coordination. It was almost awkward looking, bless his little heart. I was sure there would be no water left in the pool when we left. I told Thanh to stop and get a life jacket on the way home from work. We didn't have anything that fit him, because it has been 2 years since he has been in the water. And back then he looked like a fish out of water, I thought he would be a natural like the other kids. But, what looks normal for a 3 year old trying to swim doesn't look so good at 5. Oh well, we just have a little extra work to do and I definitely will not go back without a life jacket and another set of eyes and hand.s
I don't teach swim lessons anymore. But, it probably would help for him to concentrate on one part of swimming at a time. Take 3-4 minutes just working on arms. Then with legs.He could face you while you walk backward and support him. Remind him that kicks dont have to be big to move you. And usually kids bend their knees to much. But, you might be able to guide his legs. Then try back floats (have him rest his head on your shoulder, maybe with one hand under his back and holding one of your hands with both hands, at least until he is more comfortable) my youngest keeps trying to bring his feet out of the water when he back floats. But, I know eventually he will get there. Practice getting in and out of the water safely (which is something you can't practice too much)If he can blow bubbles, maybe work on some front floats. You know mix it up. Not that you even asked for advice;D haha Sorry if I'm overstepping.
